HISTORY

This conference is the 9th in a series of biennial international meetings. The previous FLC meetings were held as follows:

• 3rd 1991 Boulder (USA)
• 4th 1993 Tokyo (Japan)
• 5th 1995 Cambridge (UK)
• 6th 1997 Brest (France)
• 7th 1999 Darmstadt (Germany)
• 8th 2001 Washington (USA).
  
  The principal objective of these conferences is to bring together scientists, and students working in the Chemistry, Physics and Engineering of ferroelectric liquid crystals and of related materials and to present and discuss the recent and interesting developments in this area.
