Musculoskeletal Biomechanics is the application of physics, engineering and medical science to the forces and motions imposed on, and experienced within, the human body. Musculoskeletal biomechanics influences the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diverse injuries and diseases from spinal growth disorders to osteoporosis and traumatic injuries.
The musculoskeletal biomechanics group is a constituent of the Trinity Centre for Bioengineering.
Our research covers the following principal themes:
- Impact Biomechanics
- Soft Tissue Mechanics
- Fatigue Fractures in Bone
- Medical Device Design
