Fiona received the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University College Dublin in 2014, graduating with First Class Honours. Her undergraduate degree focused on examining behavioural differences between musicians and non-musicians in their ability to recognise emotional prosody from semantically neutral sentences. Additionally, Fiona achieved Distinction from the Royal Irish Academy of Music in the Grade Eight Pianoforte examination in 2009, and teaches students part-time up to Grade 5 level.

She joined the Lalor Lab in July 2014 to assist Dr. Edmund Lalor and Dr. Jeremy Murphy on the Lalor Lab's IRC funded project "Objective Indices of LIstening to, Attending to and Imagining Music", which aims to identify neurphysiological signatures of music using Electroencephalography (EEG).
