Research
Vacancies
We
have a wide range of vacancies for postdoctural researchers
and Ph.D. candidates in CTVR here in Trinity College, University
of Dublin, Ireland.
Our
work focuses both on wireless and optical networks. The common
theme throughout is reconfigurable and cognitive networking.
On
the wireless side we have an interest in cognitive radio,
software radio, dynamic spectrum access, technology and service
neutral regimes, advanced commons regimes, coexistence and
inteference mitigation techniques, spectrum trading, self-organising
network, regulatory policies and other topics. We work at
the PHY, MAC and network layers. We take a `theorise/simulate/build'
approach to our work and have designed sophisticated platforms
on which to test our ideas. We work on general purpose processors
as well as Cell BE and FPGA platforms.
On
the optical side we focus on optical IP switching and what
we term ad hoc optical networking. We are interested in dynamic
provisioning of light paths in a distributed and flexible
manner. On the optical side we explore ideas on a specially
designed optical testbed.
There
are a large number of outstanding problems in these fields.
We seek bright and passionate people who wish to join our
team (current size of team is 20). We are intested in people
who have Engineering and Computer Science backgrounds suited
to the above topics but also welcome those with interests
in policy, economics and other areas of relevance.
The
group also engages in commercial activity and has serious
interest in start-ups and technology transfer in general.
As a result there are also opportunities for postdoctural
level researchers and others to focus partially or exclusively
on commercial activity.
