Current positions are listed on the main TCD webpage at www.tcd.ie/vacancies. We currently have PhD positions in 3D cinema postproduction and content analysis for scientific databases with Prof. Anil Kokaram. Dr. Naomi Harte has a PhD postion available in audio-visual speech recognition. All positions are available from Sept 2009.

There are usually research/software developer positions available at Sigmedia Group at the Electronic Engineering Dept of the University of Dublin, Trinity College, Ireland. The group works in the general area of video processing including applications like Motion Picture Restoration, Video over Wireless, and Multimedia Retrieval.

Please send a CV and motivation letter, including the names of at least 2 referees, to Dr. Anil Kokaram anil.kokaram[a]tcd.ie.

Prospective PhD candidates should contact us during their final year of study to explore funding opportunities. We consider applications from candidates with a first class degree (expected) in a numerate discipline e.g. Electronics, Computer Science or Mathematics. Experience in signal processing and Matlab is a distinct advantage. Please send a short CV and motivation letter, including the names of at least 2 referees, to Dr. Naomi Harte nharte[a]tcd.ie.

We frequently take on talented interns. See our Research page to get an overview of research in the group.

This high profile project will see the candidate working with the best technical people in the digital cinema industry especially as the project team will also have contact with Digital Domain, a major Hollywood post production house responsible for many major films and games effects work e.g. Halo, Gears of War, Spiderman, XMen and so on. The project sits at the boundary between cinema post production and high end graphics for games development. The idea is to exploit multi-view camera data to improve motion based and 3D object handling work in post-production. The candidate will work with core team members that have all won Academy Awards in 2007 for science and engineering. We seek applications from candidates with at least a first degree (of at least Upper 2.1 standard) in a numerate discipline e.g. Mathematics, Electronics or Computer Science. Previous technical work in projects involving, statistical signal processing, motion estimation, 3D geometry and feature point identification would also be welcome.

Please send to Prof. Kokaram (anil.kokaram@tcd.ie) a CV and contact details of 2 referees who have agreed to speak on the candidate's behalf. See www.sigmedia.tv . Dr. Francois Pitie fpitie@mee.tcd.ie (team leader at Sigmedia) at www.sigmedia.tv is available to discuss the lifestyle of the laboratory with interested candidates. The stipend for a graduate student in i3DPost is generous, from 16,000 to 19,000 Euros/annum (depending on qualifications and experience) for the correct individual, in addition all College fees are covered.
